Jack Eichel, Forward

Hey medieval maniacs, it’s Chance again and I know you have been waiting for this month’s Vegas Golden Knights Collectible Player Bookmark superstar to hit the ice at T-Mobile Arena with as much anticipation as Christmas morning. He’s a golden gift that comes with a lot of fanfare.

Jack Eichel, 25, was still in his teens when sports pundits started hailing him as the new face of American Hockey. Sports analysts compared him to superstars like Mike Modano, Patrick Kane, Evgeni Malkin, and even Mario Lemieux.

Like those elite players before him, Jack started skating soon after he started walking. Growing up in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, he wanted to play at four, but the local league required players to be five. In turn, his parents registered him in a league in New Hampshire.

“Jack was one of the best players as soon he joined us, but at ten he started to separate from even the best kids,” said Chris Masters, his coach with the Junior Bruins. “He became one of the top kids his age in Massachusetts, then in New England, then in the East, then in the U.S. When he got to be 15, you knew he was one of the best for his age in the whole world - a transcendent player.”

During his first season at Boston University, Jack led the nation in scoring with 26 goals and 45 assists. Jack was also the Hockey East scoring champion, Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, First Team Hockey East, and a member of the All-Rookie Team! With stats like that, Jack’s collegiate career was brief and he was selected second overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres.

While a Sabre, Jack played in 375 NHL games, tallied 139 goals and 216 assists. On November 4, 2021, Jack was traded, along with a third-round draft pick, to the Vegas Golden Knights. “There’s only a handful of guys in the world with game-breaking ability when a game gets tight, they can make something out of nothing. Jack is one of them,” Golden Knight’s head coach Peter DeBoer said.

Eichel is a great addition to a golden lineup.
