LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Do you believe?
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District wants to invite “curious Earthlings” and extraterrestrial enthusiasts to AlienFest at the Windmill Library on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The free event will feature a “close encounter” with 8 News Now journalist and UFO expert George Knapp, as well as a screening of the documentary “Who They Are,” followed by a Q&A with the film’s writer and director, Jeremy Norrie.
Additionally, the library, located at 7060 West Windmill Lane, will transform into an “intergalactic hub” with themed decorations and activities for all ages.
Some of those activities include:
- UFO Kids Craft Station
- Caricature Artist drawing guests as aliens
- Alien-themed video games
- Alien Bingo Scavenger Hunt
- On-site vendors offering alien swag and local food trucks
The day’s main stage events will kick off at 10:30 a.m. with a “Galactic Storytime,” which promises “thrilling tales of space adventures, alien encounters, and interstellar friendships,” according to a release from the library district.
Then, at 11 a.m., 8 News Now’s George Knapp, the keynote speaker and special guest for the event, will share insights from his decades of work focused on the paranormal and UFO phenomena.
The next speaker will be Darrell Clulow, the Assistant National Response Director for the International UFO Bureau and Former Chief Investigator for MUFON in Nevada. The schedule lists him as speaking at noon.
Following Clulow will be an alien costume contest. Guests will be encouraged to come in their best alien, astronaut, or other space-themed cosplays to compete for prizes.
The “Who They Are” screening is scheduled for 1 p.m. with a Q&A with the writer and director to follow.
The event will be free and open to the public. Seating and participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis and may be limited, the release stated.
