West Las Vegas Library
The African American Special Collection consists of specialized materials by and about African Americans. The emphasis of the collection is on the African American experience in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the West. The core collection consists of books, periodicals, government publications, videos, and other audiovisual materials. The collection also provides a file of pamphlets, newspaper clippings and photographs.

The contents of the African American Collection were developed under a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, through the Nevada State Library and Archives. However, the contents do not necessarily represent the policy of the Nevada State Library and Archives and there is no implicit endorsement by the state or federal government.
Asian Culture Collection
Spring Valley Library
The Asian Culture Collection is a multimedia collection which includes books, audiocassettes, videos, newspapers and periodicals. Materials are available in many of the Asian languages. The collection also includes books written in English that reflect the various cultures of Asian countries. Currently, Spring Valley Library's Asian Culture Collection has over 2,000 titles.
Health Science Library (Disclaimer) located within the West Charleston Library offers a wide variety of health-related materials, resources and services to the general public and provides supplemental support to the Health Professions programs at the College of Southern Nevada. The circulating collection provides books, videos and audio materials. The reference collection features resources for research on health and medical topics. The collection includes periodicals that range from consumer health magazines to core medical journals. In addition, the library provides specialized databases that will assist the library user with locating the most current information available.
Consumer Health Connection offers Internet access to authoritative sources that will assist the consumer with making informed healthcare decisions. The selected sources are designed to assist the user in locating current health information to better understand their condition. While the direct Internet sites have been evaluated for quality, accuracy and currency, the Library cannot vouch for information linked from each web site. This site was developed with funding awarded by the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Southwest Region.

International Languages Collection
Sahara West Library
Over the past decade Las Vegas has become an international crossroads, and the library, in an effort to truly reflect its community, has dedicated itself to creating an outstanding collection of print and audio-visual materials for our patrons.
The International Languages collection places a special emphasis on Asian languages, but languages from around the globe are represented in our collection.
Included in this collection are both fiction and non-fiction books and for those who are interested in learning English, ESL (English as a Second Language) materials.
Materials may be found in 37 different languages: Arabic, Bulgarian, Croatian, Chinese, Farsi, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Tagalog, Serbian and Vietnamese.

Jack I. Gardner Special Collections Room for Local History & Gaming
Las Vegas Library
The Las Vegas history collection includes books, a biographical clipping file, microfilm, maps and a newspaper index. The newspaper index is the primary source for locating historical information regarding local events in Las Vegas and Clark County. It indexes information from the Las Vegas-Review Journal and the Las Vegas Sun newspapers. Scrapbooks and other documents concerning the history of the Library District are also available in this collection.
The gaming collection provides an overview of the gaming industry and the casinos. There are specific books on gaming which provide "how-to" information on games played in the Las Vegas casinos and information on older games as well. The collection includes periodicals, videos, and books.

As the Southern Nevada Funding Information Network Partner of the Foundation Center (based in New York), the Southern Nevada Nonprofit Information Center (SoNNPIC) provides information on charitable foundations, corporate givers and government sources of funding for nonprofit groups. The collection contains directories, reference guides and periodicals about grantseeking, proposal writing, nonprofit management, and related subjects. SoNNPIC provides free access to the Foundation Directory Online and Foundation Grants for Individuals. Trained staff present monthly workshops on a variety of topics including proposal writing, funding resources, and networking. Individual or small group training is also available by appointment.

Federal Depository Library Program
Las Vegas Library
The Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) was established by Congress to ensure that the American public has access to Government's information. FDLP contains items in paper, microfiche, CD-ROM and DVDs. The Las Vegas Library Clark County Library District, serving the 1st U.S. Congressional District, was designated a Federal depository in 1974. 13% of the available materials are selected by LVCCLD; the depository collection is located at Las Vegas Library.
Many government documents also are available online through the Internet. The U.S. Government Publishing Office Federal documents through their web page. Most Federal branches and agencies also maintain websites. Popular examples are the White House web page and the Social Security Administration.
